Elon Musk , CEO of Tesla and X owner has praised Google’s latest artificial intelligence video generation model, Veo 3 , calling it “awesome”. The remarks come following its unveiling at the company’s annual developer conference Google I/O 2025 this week. The model, developed by Google DeepMind , represents a major leap in AI-generated content by combining high-resolution, cinematic visuals with synchronized, realistic audio, including ambient sounds, effects, and spoken dialogue.
What Elon Musk said about Google’s Veo 3
Musk, who was responding to a post by Google Deepmind CEO Demis Hassabis , wrote: "It is awesome. Nice work."
Unlike competing models such as OpenAI’s Sora , Meta Platforms’ MovieGen, or Runway’s Gen-4—which currently do not support audio—Veo 3’s integration of sound has helped fuel a wave of viral clips across the internet, with many viewers questioning whether what they were seeing was real or AI-generated. DeepMind CEO and co-founder Demis Hassabis described Veo 3 as “mindblowing” in its ability to model intuitive physics, suggesting it could help researchers better understand the computational complexity of the universe.
In his post, Hassabis said: "It’s kind of mindblowing how good Veo 3 is at modeling intuitive physics. Our world models are getting pretty good, & in my view has important implications regarding the computational complexity of the world - the last line of my bio for me has always been the ultimate quest."
Google Deepmind CEO responds to Musk
Hassabis replied to Musk’s praise for Veo 3 saying: "Thanks Elon."
When Musk praised Veo 2
Musk’s endorsement of Veo 3 follows his earlier praise for its predecessor, Veo 2, though his views on Google’s broader AI ecosystem remain critical. He has previously expressed concerns about Google’s Gemini model, accusing it of bias after widespread criticism of its image-generation failures.
Meanwhile, Musk’s own AI company, xAI, is reportedly preparing for a massive investment in computing infrastructure. The venture is planning to deploy one million GPUs near Memphis, a move that could significantly benefit Nvidia Corp. as competition in the generative AI space intensifies.
