NEW DELHI: The Bombay high court on Tuesday granted bail to dismissed police officer Sachin Waze in a corruption case involving former Maharashtra home minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Anil Deshmukh .
He had alleged that the NCP leader had pressurised him to do several illegal activities by claiming that instructions had come from "Pawar Saheb" or "Patil Saheb".
"I did not dare to ask who exactly was meant by 'Pawar Saheb'," Waze said. He also mentioned that during Deshmukh's tenure, the home ministry's level of work fell to its lowest. "I am also a victim. Under pressure from Deshmukh, I was forced to do many illegal works that should not have been done by an officer like me," Waze had alleged in August this year.
He had submitted a handwritten six-page letter to deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on July 30, making these allegations.
He has been in jail since March 2021, following his initial arrest by the NIA in connection with the Antilia bomb scare and the murder of businessman Mansukh Hiran.
