Leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc will meet on August 7 in New Delhi, with a gathering scheduled at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi ’s residence. The meeting comes amid heightened political tensions over alleged irregularities in the Bihar voter list revision , recent violence in Jammu and Kashmir, and a wave of criticism aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and Congress MP KC Venugopal both confirmed the meeting and outlined key points of discussion. Raut stated that Uddhav Thackeray will attend the meeting and remain in Delhi until August 8.
'Focus on PM Modi’s lies': Sanjay Raut Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said one of the primary topics of the meeting will be to counter what he alleged were Prime Minister Modi’s repeated “lies,” including claims made during recent public speeches and interview, as reported by ANI. The alliance also intends to formulate a response strategy ahead of the upcoming assembly polls.
Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack The April attack in Pahalgam, which targeted Hindu pilgrims and led to widespread outrage, will also be discussed. The subsequent 'Operation Sindoor' launched in May targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK will also be discussed according to the Shiv Sena leader.
However, BJP MLA Ram Kadam slammed Shiv Sena (UBT) for politicising the tragedy, accusing them of being detached from ground realities. “Will one believe the women who lost their sindoor or the Shiv Sena leaders sitting in AC rooms?” Kadam asked.
Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar Another major point on the agenda is the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter list. The INDIA bloc has raised concerns about transparency and timing of the process, especially with the state elections drawing near. Congress’s KC Venugopal said the bloc is pushing for a parliamentary discussion on the issue.
Uddhav Thackeray is expected to arrive in Delhi on August 6 and stay through the 8th. Apart from attending the INDIA bloc meeting , he will also inaugurate Shiv Sena (UBT)'s new office in the Parliament premises and hold meetings with key opposition leaders .
