IPL 2025 Final to Be Held in Ahmedabad; New Venues Announced for Playoff Matches

New Delhi, May 21 — The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that the final match of IPL 2025 will be held in Ahmedabad. The decision comes after the recent military tensions between India and Pakistan, which prompted the BCCI to suspend the tournament for a week starting May 9. A revised schedule was released on May 13, rescheduling several fixtures, including the grand finale, now set for June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

New Playoff Venues Announced

Originally, the playoffs were scheduled to take place in Hyderabad and Kolkata. However, due to weather concerns and logistical adjustments, the BCCI has revised the venue list. The following stadiums will now host the playoff fixtures:

• Qualifier 1 – Mullanpur Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh – May 29

• Eliminator – New Chandigarh – May 30

• Qualifier 2 – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad – June 1

• Final – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad – June 3

The selection of these venues was finalized in a high-level BCCI meeting held on May 20, keeping in mind the anticipated monsoon conditions in several parts of India.

Teams That Have Qualified So Far

As of now, three teams have secured their place in the IPL 2025 playoffs:

• Gujarat Titans

• Royal Challengers Bengaluru

• Punjab Kings

The race for the fourth playoff spot is still open, with Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals neck-and-neck on the points table. With nine league matches remaining, the final league game is scheduled for May 27, after which the playoff line-up will be confirmed.
