YAMUNANAGAR : Kashish Kalra , a proud daughter of Yamunanagar and daughter of Fire Department officer Gulshan Kalra, who secured 111th rank in the prestigious UPSC civil services examination was welcomed and honoured upon her arrival in the hometown on Sunday.
Kashish, who has consistently excelled in academics, completed her Class X grade from a private school in Yamunanagar, and pursued her Class grade studies at a private school in New Delhi. She later graduated from Lady Shri Ram College , in New. Remarkably, Kashish secured this rank in her second attempt.
On Sunday, on her arrival in Yamunanagar, Kashish received a grand welcome from her family, friends, and various social organizations. During a special felicitation event, Kashish credited her success to her hard work, the unwavering support of her parents and mentors, and shared valuable tips for aspiring students.
Her parents, Kavita and Gulshan Kalra, expressed immense pride in Kashish’s achievement, recalling how she topped her school in the Class X and continued to perform exceptionally well in her academic journey. They highlighted her dedication and disciplined approach to studies from an early age.
Speaking at the event, Kashish emphasized the importance of setting clear goals and working consistently towards them. She acknowledged the significant role of family support and mentorship in helping her reach this milestone.
"This success is not just mine, but a proud moment for my family and my city," Kashish said, inspiring many young aspirants to pursue their dreams with determination and focus.
“I feel civil service is for doing good. I dream of doing public service, social welfare. Now that I am here, I am hoping to contribute in a more apathetic way. I feel there is a lot to do in the field of health, education, public safety, women empowerment”, said Kashish. She emphasized that skill development among youth is the need of the hour.
She added that there are now ample amounts of resources and sources available on the internet to prepare for competitive exams that one can prepare at home also and there is no need to remain away from home.
Speaking about women empowerment , Kashish said that the sex ratio in Haryana is improving but we can do better. She added that as elderly population is increasing, there is a need to take care of them also.
About discrimination against women in society and its current status, Kashish said, “We are progressing towards some ideals. We need to make efforts day by day that no woman is being discriminated against either in education, health or employment. Even in the private sphere the women should be treated equally and for that, not only the women, we need to teach the men accordingly also.”
